Prosecutors Asking for Trouble
So a couple weeks ago, an 8 year old allegedly shot his father and another guy. So, he was going to be charged with two counts of murder, only prosecutors decided to only charge him with one murder charge. According to the kid's lawyer in this article
Defense attorney Benjamin Brewer argued in a filing Tuesday that prosecutors wanted the charge dismissed so they could refile it when the boy was older and pursue case in adult court.Hmm... There is no way this would work. Trust me, I guarantee that if any prosecuting attorney tried this trick, that slimy bastard would be looking for a new job.
If a person commits a crime when a young child, he or she deserves to be tried as child. Waiting 10 years for the kid to grow up is immoral and wrong and prosecutors should bloody well know better.
Luckily in this case, the kid is getting a plea deal. He should not worry though about being charged as an adult. There is absolutely no way a judge would allow that to happen. Sure, murder has no statute of limitations, but crimes committed as a child are tried as a child. Enough said.
