Steroids: What's Up With Them?
So I guess there was a huge steroid ring busted. Whoop-de-doo... I really don't see a big problem with steroids. I wrote previously about the PGA Tour and steroids, but even in other sports, is it really that big of a problem? (By this, I am not talking about how widespread it is. Just a basic question. How bad is it for the game?)
See, I don't really see the difference between someone working out all the time and someone popping steroids and working out all the time. Sure, someone might get a little bigger on steroids, but is bigger always better? I don't know.
I guess it comes down to the fact that I am not a purist for the sake of it. Actually, a true purist would outlaw some of the workout regimens out there right now. Just because someone has 40 hours a week to spend in the weight room doesn't mean they should right? Oh wait, that is part of being an athlete? But what if they use energy supplements? Should those be banned as performance enhancing? What about IVs? Shouldn't those be banned?
What makes steroids so darn special?
