Another Republican Debate (Once Again, No Fred Thompson)

Another Republican debate. Hope this debate is better since it is on Fox News.

  • Fred Thompson is not in this debate. He can be criticized, but in past elections, he would have joined the race when it began. This race began months and months ago, even though no one gives a dang.
  • Huckabee makes a joke about Thompson.
  • Ron Paul makes a great joke about Thompson entering the race.
  • Wow, even McCain makes fun of Thompson.
  • McCain wants candidates to spend more time in New Hampshire. How about spending time in like other states?
  • Romney wants Thompson to keep waiting. Not as funny.
  • Romney gets hit on illegal immigration.
  • Rudy wants to invite illegal immigrants to get health care on the government dime it seems. Yeah, no thanks. Open up the borders to allow more legal immigrants to come over and say bye-bye illegal immigrants.
  • McCain gets a laugh over his line.
  • McCain’s plan failed because it was idiotic, not a lack of belief in government. A real lack of belief in government is Ron Paul’s ideal, not McCain’s.
  • Tancredo hits back at the other candidates. I kinda like his answer, even though I don’t entirely believe the same thing he does.
  • A fence would infringe on the right’s of ranchers? Yeah, where the hell were they during the Kelo decision? I think if the government were really going to enforce the fence, eminent domain would certainly be applicable. I mean, it ain’t an idiotic shopping center now is it?
  • I hate when they get questions from random people. Most people that ask questions don’t have any clue what they are talking about and honestly can’t speak.
  • By the way, how come the question went back to McCain and Rudy? Shouldn’t Tancredo get a chance to speak on this one? McCain really ain’t top tier anymore so that argument doesn’t work.
  • Rudy seems to flip-flop on his record.
  • McCain starts rambling. Too bad his ideas weren’t actually part of the disputed bill.
  • Sen. Craig gets mentioned. I wonder if the car-driving killer got mentioned during a Democrat debate. I mean, a guy supposedly tried to get sex in a men’s room, not drove his car off a bridge and killed a woman. How about some perspective? Under current ideals of the Senate, Craig should be in there for another 30 years.
  • Duncan Hunter makes a great point about Democrat hypocrisy.
  • Romney wants to have compassion for women who have abortions. Eh, not going to work. Women don’t have a right to choose an abortion any more than they have a right to kill their college bound child. Why should Republicans have to compromise beliefs to pander to Democrats? Screw that!
  • Thompson has made a claim against gun laws. Rudy thinks NYC was safe. Hmm…I think Rudy is playing fast and loose with his statistics. Then again, Rudy might be right. Thompson could be safer in NYC, but he wouldn’t be truly free.
  • Ron Paul starts in with his libertarian message. Finally. He also shows that 9/11 could have been prevented by freedom.
  • Everybody focuses on gay marriage like it has to be either allowed or disallowed. Neither side really has a great solution. The best idea is to get government out of the marriage business. Stop providing health care through business and government. Leave marriage in the religious sphere and make a union just another contract. Let people decide who to let into the emergency room if they are injured. Think of it this way. Why should someone’s roommate (for heterosexuals) or life partner (for homosexuals) be denied into an emergency room, but the victim’s crazy Uncle Jim Bob is allowed in, even though the victim hasn’t spoken to Jim Bob in 20 years? Why make family the only admittance rule? Let people live free, choose who they want to marry in whatever religion they want. Let the Catholic Church only provide heterosexual marriages and let the Church of the Environment provide homosexual marriages if it wants.
  • McCain is getting too much time. He will never win a Republican nomination. Candidates don’t piss off the base and get the nomination.
  • The fact that Rudy would support McCain shows that Rudy shouldn’t be elected.
  • Rudy thinks his city government was great. Yeah, it might have been, but I would rather be free and providing my own security over his totalitarian regime.
  • McCain thinks the surge is working. Where is the argument that McCain is senile? Could it be the media still likes him? (Yet another reason not to like McCain.)
  • Ron Paul makes a great point about predictions. You may not like it, but he does have a great point. He is right about idiotic troop movements.
  • Paul gets hit with a question about letting the enemy define our marching orders. He makes a great answer though it could be better. He needed to stick with the Constitution rather than talking about an invasion and ignoring international law.
  • Brownbeck can’t hear. Sounds like me actually. He needs to stop listening to Thomas Friedman though. His idea of separate states could be possible, but I doubt it. Let everybody do what they want as long as they leave us alone. That I could live with.
  • Huckabee gives a little kid’s story. He then starts promoting McCain. Real honor means upholding oaths. I have to think McCain has forgotten a few of his oaths of the past few years. Huckabee could also learn from the honor of upholding the Constitution. Too bad Paul didn’t focus on that. He would have scored a better hit rather than blaming the neo-conservatives. What is this floor of the Senate bit? Huckabee needs to learn that Congress lost honor when they started giving away citizens’ money for political pandering.
  • Hunter gives a great response when he is finally called on. It must suck to be up there with a guy like McCain, someone polling slightly better, and yet McCain keeps getting called on.
  • Hunter can’t hear either. Must be a loud room.
  • McCain has taken the pro-war position while Paul has taken the anti-war position. Everybody else is just playing a part.
  • Tancredo focuses on radical Islam.
  • I think I am kinda bored with this debate again, even though it is much more lively. I wonder if it comes from the fact that I have already picked my horse in this race.
  • Romney gets hit for an asinine comment. I wonder why I didn’t hear about it.

Eh, I think I am giving up on this debate. It just isn’t that worthwhile. I saw part of the debate earlier when it was on live and there is no way I can handle sitting and watching those parts again, even though it is more the domestic side of things. Oh well, I would rather watch something else anyway. I think I am getting burned out and it is only September of 2007. There is a whole more year of this crap. Dang it!
