Modern Liberal Logic vs. Classical Liberal Logic
Today on Fox News, they showed a clip of Hilary Clinton talking about how Democrats will lower gas prices. Hmm...prices are now much higher. Guess it was Democrats causing the rise in prices, right? (In any other debate, that logic would be accepted by today's liberals.)
But could my facetious argument have some merit? Think without politics for a second. What could be causing a rise in prices? I can think of a few items.
- Instabilities in foreign oil production
- Reliance on foreign oil
- Reduced refinery capability and actual refineries
- High gas taxes
- Recent repeal of oil and gasoline company subsidies
- Different requirements for fuel mixture
So are there other arguments that could not be blamed on Democrats? Well, if you don't know economics, you might come up with some. Greed, "price-gouging," blah blah blahbahbah.... Actually, if Democrats think their laws against gouging really work and will admit to them, then they can be blamed for the real effects of such legislation. Why the heck would anyone sell gas after a disaster for the same price they did before? And if anyone ever does, be sure you are one of the first in line cause that gas won't last and there won't be any more coming anytime soon. Think about it logically. Wouldn't you waste your time bringing gasoline to a disaster area if you couldn't make a profit? Why waste your time? And then, think about it, are you sure YOU wouldn't be charged with gouging?
By the way, what the heck does how we won WWII and the Cold War have to do with gasoline prices? That is what some idiot on the show said. Well, I guess we could if we accurately call Democrats "communists" and environmentalists "Nazis." Then I guess we could compare them pretty accurately. (Plus, I actually made my names pretty close to how those two groups are behaving now.)
