Does the Idiot Not Know MATH!?

In this article on Puerto Rico, there is just stupidity, plain and simple. Here is a quote from Eduardo Bhatia, the governor's representative in Washington

"Puerto Rico is a Latin American nation. "There's no question about it."

Except, wait a minute, what was that statement right before this idiot's quote? Oh yeah, it was this.
The people of Puerto Rico long have struggled with the issue of the island's status. They have held four nonbinding status plebiscites since 1967. An undefined form of commonwealth won every time by a small margin over statehood. Independence came in a distant third.
Wait! Wait! Hold on a minute. You mean to tell me that "Puerto Rico is a Latin American nation," but its own citizens vote "independence" third option? What is that crap? This guy is frankly an idiot. And the writer, I don't know. Was the writer trying to illustrate absurdity? Or, was the writer an idiot too? I can't speak to that.

Eh, stupidity, pure stupidity. Guess this guy is an American style political hack....
